Traffic generated via Alexa will come from the Alexa Toolbar. The Alexa Toolbar sits within the browser and provides information on each visited site.

Our interest here is the "related links" feature. Website owners manually list their urls with Alexa. Part of the listing process includes the option of specifying "related links" to other sites similar to your own.

Here's a neat trick:

You can visit Alexa as an anonymous user and look up data on any site you want, and you can specify links you believe should be added to that site's "related links" information.

This allows you to associate your url with that of, say, a higher traffic site in your niche – which may be owned by a jv partner or a competitor.

Provided there aren't dozens of other urls already specified in the related links database for a given site, visitors who have the Alexa Toolbar installed should see your link listed as a related site.

I see a lot of people spending all of their time getting all of this traffic to their web site. Well, that's a great thing if you have your web site set up right, if not, it can be a disaster.

I see so many people setting up a web site and putting Google adsense on it. Then they just drive traffic to it, they don't make enough money and before they know it, they are back to their day job.

Their problem might not be that they didn't get enough traffic. You must use your traffic to make money, properly. You need to do more than just rely on adsense.

You need to experiment with both adsense and affiliate links. Find out what works better and use that or if it works best to do both, then do it.

Go ahead a create your own information products to sell. You make all of the money from selling the product. I think that this is better than having adsense or affiliate links on your site, but different things work better for different people.

One thing that you absolutely have to do is start building your mailing list. I've heard the money is in the list so many times, that I finally got sick of hearing it and started doing it myself.

I should of listened to them sooner. That is all that I can say. The money is in the list and if you don't set up a place on your web site for people to sign up for your list, you're letting a lot of people leave without getting anything out of them.

They may not click on your ads or buy your product, but they might sign up for your list. Why would they sign up? You need to give them an incentive to sign up.

Write an information product and give it to them for free, if they sign up. Run a newsletter where you send them a free issue each month, if they sign up. If you don't want to do that, then find a product that you can acquire and give away for free.

Another thing to keep in mind and another reason selling your own product is so great is to make sure to have people sign up for your mailing list before they download. You can give them an option where they don't have to sign up to get your product, but you will get a lot of people who will.

I know people who use article writing to get traffic, that speak English as their 3rd language. If you have a high school education, you can write articles.

Make sure to do some research before you write your articles. You need to search for keywords that you think that people will search for. Use a tool like: http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com

You're going to be looking for keywords that are getting some searches, but not too many searches. There will be way too much competition.

Once you find the keywords that you want your article to be centered around, you need to structure your article. You are going to shoot for between 400 and 600 words.

You're going to want to put your keyword phrase in the title of your article. You're also going to put your keyword phrase in your article about 3 to 5 times.

You want to have the keyword phrase in your title and in your article, so the search engines pick up on that phrase. You don't want that phrase in your article too many times or the search engines will see what you're doing and drop you.

They don't want you to just put that phrase in there a million times to get listed high. They want the people who use their search engine to find good, helpful information.

Focus on providing quality articles and don't just rush them, make sure to proofread them or have someone else do it for you. People aren't going to click on your link or links if you don't wow them with your article.

They aren't going to click on your links if you have a bunch of spelling mistakes. You need to teach them something and give them good information, that they can learn from.

When you write, make sure to make it easy on the reader. Make sure that the text is big enough and that there are no big paragraphs. People like it, when you make it easy on them.

The whole key is to get people to read your whole article and click on your link at the bottom. That is why I shoot for about 500 words.

You can usually get most, if not everything that you want to say in 500 words. Yet, it's not too long. Some people will avoid reading really long articles.
